Nails, nails and more nails!

I don't know about you, but I am absolutely OBSESSED with nail polish. You probably could consider me a nail polish addict, but we won't get into that :)

The fun part of sweet summer time is bright colors! I love breaking out of my "only wear red" rut in the summer and go for bright pinks, corals and even turqouise. This summer I have really gotten into doing my nails. And when I say I have really gotten into doing my nails I mean changing the color at least ever 2-3 days.

Anywho, summer colors are fun, but since fall is right around the corner, I have been doing my research on what color nail polish is going to be the trend this fall. What I have found is that a lot of metallic colors will be seen throughout. Chanel recently revealed their Fall 2011 colors and that is what most of their collection consists of.
OPI's collection mostly consist of warm hues of the expected fall colors, along with a good many shades of amped up grays.

Personally, my go-to fall/winter shade (and spring and summer shade...) is the Classic Red hues. You can't go wrong with red when it comes to nail polish, or anything for that matter. But if you are contemplating on what shade of polish you should go with, and you want something to match EVERYTHING that you wear, go with red :)

I hope this helps if anyone had questions, I know this isn't exactly a "fashion" post, but I see my nails as a part of my outfit too. :)

What are your favorite fall/winter shades?

What do you think of the new Chanel/OPI/*other fall collections?

Style Influences

Style is something magnificent. Something that is different for each and every person. I love that getting dressed every morning is just like it was when I was little. I loved playing dress up then, and I guess you could still call it dress up now, but I still enjoy it just as much. The way someone dresses and portrays their outer appearance shows a lot about them. Wearing certain clothes is a way of expressing yourself. That is my favorite thing about clothes. I see getting dressed every day as more than just getting dressed. I see it as almost an artwork? I guess you could say. Here are a few of my favorite fashion influences.

Lauren Conrad is probably one of my favorite people as far as style goes. She is always so effortless and chic. She knows how to nail a casual outfit with the perfect amount of accessories. I love her style because she wears a lot of bohemian inspired outfits, but keeps it all classic.
Kourtney Kardashian is another one of my favorite style icons. I love all of the Kardashian's style, but I love Kourtney's in particular. She always have an effortless, easy-going style, but she always manages to amp up her style in some sort of way, whether it be killer stilettos or an amazing handbag.
Last, but definitely not least, I have recently stumbled upon an extremely stylish blogger Mariannan - she is from the UK, so I think that automatically gives her an advantage of being high in style. Every outfit that she posts on her blog I am absolutely obsessed with, and I always immediately Google search the stores in which she purchased them from. I imagine her closet to be every girls dream haha.

These girls all hold their own in style. They are all different and unique, but are similar with their chic and classic styles.

European Street Style

I don't know if you will agree with me, but personally I believe that both men and women that live in the UK have some of the best fashion sense. They are not afraid of taking risk, they dress how they want to, and don't worry about people judging their sense of style.
Unlike people in Europe, Americans tend to be more conservative and reserve when it comes to expressing themselves with fashion. I admire the courageous ways of European style, it seems that they are so far ahead in terms of fashion than we, as Americans, are.
Whenever I see photographs of European styles, even the photographs of people just casually walking down the street, it seems that almost every person appears to have just walked off of a runway or out of a magazine. I am amazed at how consistent they are with their styles and how they are unique with every item they wear.
*Disclaimer - I do not own these photos, I simply researched "European Street Style". Thanks! :)*

Feathers & Fringe

As most people know, trends come and go but they often repeat. What I mean by this is many trends from previous decades are still worn today, they are just modified to fit into today's society.
Two trends that are still going strong are fringe and feathers. You may remember fringe from the roaring twenties on those amazing flapper dresses, and feathers from the 60s & 70s. Well it's not time to put those trends to rest yet! This is the perfect opportunity to dig through your grandparent's and parent's closet to find some amazing vintage items!
Fringe has been spotted all over the runway for this upcoming fall. Fringe dresses, handbags, shoes, you name it and I'm sure you can find a type of fringe to fit your taste. Fringe can add a lot of detail to a simple outfit, so don't be afraid to try it!
Another trend popped up again in the past year, feathers. This is probably one of the more popular trends of 2011. You can walk down the street and easily spot people with feather extensions, feather accessories (ie. necklaces, bracelets, earrings etc), and even on gowns and shoes! This trend is easily accessible, nearly every retail store sales something feather-y.

Even if you don't want to go all out with the fringe and feather trend, just adding a detail of either of them in your outfit is sure to make you stand out in a crowd!

Colors of Fall

So I have been doing my research for the up and coming fall colors for this year, (I know I am a little too excited about fall to come as you may have read in my previous post.) I find that fall fashion can be the most fun. It’s the in-between season of summer and fall so you have many different options. You don’t want to dress in super bright hues, but you don’t want to pull the boring trend of all dark colors of navy and black. (Although all black and navy are great sometimes, don’t be afraid to add other colors to the mix of your wardrobe!)

On to the color trends of Fall 2011..

Mustard – not everyone will be able to pull this look off, unfortunately, but if  you have the skin tone and complexion to pull this off, do not hesitate!

Rust- A darker shade of what was last year’s It color, (Camel), this more “fall-like” color has been seen all over the runways for the upcoming season!

Camo-inspired – I am sure most southerners will love this trend, but Cameo-inspired patterns have been seen gracing the runway for the upcoming fall 2011 season!

Jade Green – Another popular color seen on the runway was this bold green. This has been stated to be the “go-to party outfit” for this season. (It’s also a great way to stand out in a room of LBDs!)

Bright pants- Although most people get in a rut of wearing only dark colors in the fall and winter months, this trend is a great way to spice your every day outfit up!

I know most of us are still holding on to summer as long as we can, but let’s embrace the fresh and upcoming trends of this fall season!

Is Summer almost over?

With Summer almost over, and fall just around the corner I have suddenly been inspired to attempt blogging. I have never attempted a fashion blog, so please bare with me :)

Okay, so as we all know that fall time is quickly approaching whether we are ready for it to or not. Although I love summer, I absolutely love Fall! The carnivals, beautiful colored leaves, Halloween, and all of the other fall activities gets me excited. One of the main reasons why I love the fall time is that it cools down just enough so that I can start layering my clothes.. (I don’t know why, I just feel more put together when I have different layers rather than just a blouse and a pair of jeans or something.)

As for fall time fashion, I personally LOVE scarves. I love scarves mostly just because if I am running late to class, (which I am 99.9% of the time), more than 9 out of 10 times I usually throw on a basic shirt and add a scarf and some other accessories to make it look like I actually put a lot of effort into my outfit.

Another addition to my outfit that I am excited about wearing this fall is blazers. There are so many different types of blazers, there is no possibly way that anyone could not find one to fit their personal style. Blazers also come in wide ranging pricing. For instance, I recently bought a really cute, sophisticate blazer from Forever 21 for about $25, which is extremely cheap compared to the $375 Theory “Rory” Blazer. So basically, not matter how much money you are willing to invest in a blazer, you are sure to find one to fit your budget!

Also for this fall, get ready to see LOTS of denim. I am personally excited about this because I could live in jeans for the rest of my life. This falls trend is more than just jeans, it also includes denim button down shirts, denim vests, and many different washes! There are also many different styles of denim jeans for this fall. The flared bell-bottom jean is really in again, along with a more high-waisted jean, rather than a hip-hugger fit. A popular look that has been seen on the runways for this upcoming fall is denim on top of denim. (For example, denim jeans and a denim shirt.) I love denim so I most definitely will be looking into incorporating more of it into my outfits.

I know many of us don’t want to begin thinking of fall yet, but think of it as an excuse to get out there and to get shopping for your Fall 2011 wardrobe! :)
What are you favorite fall fashions?

Stay tuned!
